All hall stands seem to be unique. No two are
identical. They have been hand carved with family crests, usually designed by
artists who have been commissioned by the family. They are done in the period
of the time and have elements that appeal to the family and to the region. One can only guess which elements
signified certain aspects of that family. Griffins, lion's heads and paws are common. Many have mirrors. Today, they can be used in the same
traditional way for hats, umbrellas and the like or as an accent piece. |
